I spoke about reviews last time, and we've had another one. While most of our reviews come from critics in local publications, we got a recent review from a website called Atlanta Theatre Buzz. We couldn't link to it, so we've posted it on our reviews page here.

We do encourage you to write your own reviews on this site. Click on Audience Reviews for the show you want and type away. Hey, you too can be a critic!

So one of the biggest questions we get here is How Do Reviews Factor In? And the answer is, it's all about word of mouth, and reviews are a part of that. When you like the show and tell people, they remember. Then maybe they see a good review and they remember again. If we have enough of those, that person buys a ticket and we have another satisfied customer.

So all of that to say - we have a good review! The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reporter enjoyed the show - here's the link.

We also have a shout-out for our own Assistant Artistic Director, Jessica Phelps West. Not only is she a great administrator, she is a remarkable actress and director. Creative Loafing's Curt Holman favorably compares her to Cate Blanchett here.

We're two weeks into our six-week run, and Saturday was sold to the rafters, so all is going well. What did you think of the show? We'd be glad to have you post a review or just comment within this blog. Let us know!

Wow, we had a great opening night last night. I think it was a toss-up over who was happier, the audience or the company. The cast and production team was so pleased to have this very big show up and running smoothly; the audience was delighted to laugh until their sides hurt. Enthusiasm all around.

Here on the staff, it was great for us to test-drive our new bar - everyone is enjoying the wine, the lattes, the soft drinks, and we'll be adding beer within a couple days. Our sponsors of both the bar and the production, Cheryl & Robert Moultrie, of The Facility Group, attended and were all smiles. We owe them a huge thank you, so please pass on our gratitude whenever you see them, as we did last night.

Back on the show side, we are all grateful for Jim Donadio and his terrific design team for creating this tightly-choreographed farce. One of the highlights is the scene where actors Hugh Adams, Andrew Benator and Bill Murphey gorge themselves on food. I heard through the grapevine last night, that Hugh has decided he may never eat eggs again after all he puts away nightly on stage!

Feel free to chime in on this blog - what are you thinking about Room Service? More from me later.

Theatre in the Square is proud to open a brand-new bar and concessions area, courtesy of Robert and Cheryl Moultrie and The Facility Group. The new bar, which will be open before and after performances as well as during intermission, will feature beer, wine and coffee selections.

With its shiny new espresson machine, Coca-Cola fountain drinks, and three price levels of beer and wine, the new bar is a big step forward for the Theatre.

In the short term, the bar will operate on a cash-only basis, with plans to add credit and debit card functions sometime in the next couple months.

The bar was designed with environmental issues in mind. All cups, mugs and wine glasses are reusable rather than disposable, to minimize waste. A new dishwasher is part of the bar, and glassware will be washed nightly.

Make sure and enjoy one of our new drinks (which can be taken into the theater) when you're here for Room Service.
