It's always a rush for us when a show does well, and to have the theater space available for it to keep on running is even better. The Little Dog Laughed has been that kind of show, ruffling some feathers, but also creating big laughs and equally large audiences. So hear we go...we planned to have it run four weeks, but there is enough demand to extend it for two more. Prove us right! This show has room to run and we think there are interested audiences out there that still haven't seen it.

We had a great audience talk-back last weekend. Moderated by our Education Director, Gary Yates, it featured director Alan Kilpatrick and all four of our cast members. There were great questions. As an administrator, I was interested in the comment from the woman who said, more or less, "I see shows like this {I'm guessing she means male nudity and gay content} at Actor's Express and it's no problem, but up here I feel less comfortable because I'm worried about the audience around me."

I liked that question - and the ones it raises. Is our Little Dog audience different from our Mainstage audience? While I certainly think there are cross-over people, like me, one reason that we do the Alley Series is to draw audience members who may be more interested in plays like Little Dog than they are in plays like The Belle of Amherst. And it's all good, I say. Not every play serves everyone. I have had my share of calls and emails from people who were not fans of Little Dog, and you'll see some of that in our audience reviews. But that's why we do it. Not for the controversy, but to stage a really good play that many people WILL enjoy. We hope you're one of them. But either way, let us know.
