Mount Pleasant Homecoming (2008)-Audience Reviews(Submit your own review)Mount Pleasant Homecoming (2008) 07/27/2008 I've been enjoying the Sanders Family for some years now, and it was great seeing the "old timers" again - Alan Kilpatrick as Rev. Olgethorpe, J.P. Peterson as Burl, Scott E. DePoy as Stanley and especially Karen Howell (I love her!) as Vera. Stanley must haver a special place in Connie Ray's heart, because his role is always so poignant. I realize that a certain amount of continuing down life's path is inevitable, but I wasn't pleased with two examples of that in the play. The Rev. and June are married now - in fact, she's pregnant - but I miss the flirting between them from before. And they're moving to Texas? Why? And who's going to "Bible duel" with Vera now? That has been one of the mainstays of the series. Certainly not her son Dennis. Denise is married now and apparently has two brats (offstage) that she screams at. A young mother screaming at her kids is a fact of life, but one I don't find funny and something I feel ought to be left unsaid. I don't know what Connie Ray has in store for the family now, but since she's already removing two characters, I can't help but wonder who's next? Denise, too busy with the kids? Or Burl, a victim of a heart attack from working too hard on the farm? Or Stanley, in trouble with the law and in jail somewhere? Only Connie knows.
