About the performance
Darla Frye's life is on the skids. She's an auto parts clerk fraught with low self esteem, thanks to her boyfriend Coty, who only loves her for her fried chicken. Her saving grace is spending time at the Bristol Motor Speedway, where she befriends Lucky Tibbs, a stockcar racing team crew chief, and Dr. Halley Smoot, an out-of-place college professor. With encouragement from her new friends, Darla begins to take control of her own life. It's one helluva ride with a lot of tradin' paint, but Darla discovers that it's the bump in the road that makes the trip worthwhile. The winner of the 2006 Appalachian Festival of Plays and Playwrights is a comedy about racing and romance, dreams and destiny. Tradin’ Paint will get your motor running, whether or not you know what a fan belt does. Featuring: Corey Bradberry, Kate Donadio, Veronika Duerr, Neal Ghant, Bart Hansard, Chad Martin, Eric Mendenhall, and Matt Myers. Ticket give-aways to Lanier National Speedway at each performance.
Warning: there is funny cussin' in this production ~ recommended for audiences 14 years and up.
